![]() This is what you encountered the night you went out. ![]() So you know, Winters here in Hawaii (December to March), are exposed to Westerly Winter swells, that roll in quick and roll out just as fast. We take experiences and comments like yours very seriously and utilize your comments to help us better our customer service and charters. I am always saddened when we don't live up a customers personal expectations. I would recommend to anyone looking into Manta Diving to check sea conditions ahead and confirm the refund policies in advance to get the best and fairest deal for your money. We discussed these issues with the management and they replied those were the owner's policies. ![]() They said there is always a 5% chance you don't see anything. BID offered a discount of 50% on our next dive with Mantas, but we don't know if we will ever return to Hawaii, and we are unsure if they already knew that the conditions were so bad that it was unlikely we were able to see any mantas. Getting out of the water was also difficult and dangerous because the swell was rough. I was very disappointed, and overwhelmed because there were so many people diving around that I lost my partner briefly. I spotted Frank, a local green eel, and that was all I saw. After 30 minutes, the dive master asked us to start ascending. It was extremely difficult to seat still in the bottom waiting for the mantas to arrive. It was completely dark and the current was so strong that it dragged us. It seemed to me that they were waiting for something to happen, but it didn't.The sea became even more choppy, and we had to start jumping into the water even though it was evident something was not going on as planned. After we arrived to the manta site, the divemasters sank a light and prepared the spot while we were receiving the final information about what we may see. ![]() The divemaster and the crew were very attentive and courteous, provide good explanations and safety instructions munchies and towels. A regulator slipped from a table and hit my foot. Besides, the restroom was out of service. The sea was very choppy, and it was difficult to move around the boat to get the gear on. We departed at 5 pm, and there were at least 20 people in the tour. We signed for a giant manta dive with Big Island Divers. ![]()
